Santiago de Compostela to Bilbao
Santiago de Compostela — Ferrol — Viveiro
A 10am welcome at the Parador Reyes Católicos beside Santiago's cathedral, with a guided tour of the city and the cathedral and a traditional Galician lunch at the Parador. A coach then transfers to Ferrol to board the train, meet the crew and settle into your Gran Clase suite, before an afternoon visit to Viveiro on the Mariña Lucense coast. Dinner and overnight in Viveiro.
Viveiro — Ribadeo & Taramundi — Luarca
After breakfast en route to Ribadeo, a coach excursion reaches the village of Taramundi and the Os Teixois ethnographic complex — water-powered forges and mills — with a local restaurant lunch. The train then runs to Luarca, the 'white town of the green coast', for a guided tour, dinner and onboard entertainment. Overnight in Luarca.
Luarca — Oviedo, cider & Gijón — Llanes
A coach transfer to Oviedo includes a visit to a traditional Asturian cider house (llagar), then on to seafront Gijón for free time and lunch. The afternoon brings Oviedo's pre-Romanesque monuments before the train continues to Llanes. Dinner and overnight in Llanes.
Llanes — Picos de Europa — Cabezón de la Sal
A coach climbs to Arenas de Cabrales, the charming gateway town to the Picos de Europa — Spain's first national park — with a regional lunch, followed by a visit to the harbour town of Llanes. The train then rolls to Cabezón de la Sal. Dinner and overnight in Cabezón de la Sal.
Cabezón de la Sal — Santillana del Mar & Altamira — Santander
The medieval village of Santillana del Mar and the Neocave of Altamira fill the morning before the train arrives in Santander during lunch. The afternoon is free to explore the Belle Époque capital of Cantabria, with dinner at a prestigious restaurant. Overnight in Santander.
Santander — Bilbao & the Guggenheim
A final breakfast aboard as the train crosses into the Basque Country and reaches Bilbao. A full city tour takes in Frank Gehry's Guggenheim Museum, followed by a farewell lunch at a traditional restaurant, concluding the journey around 4pm at Bilbao's La Concordia station.
