For a thousand years pilgrims have crossed Europe to reach the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela. The Praza do Obradoiro, framed by its baroque façade, is one of the great squares of Europe, and the surrounding old town — a UNESCO World Heritage Site — is a granite labyrinth scented with Galician cooking: octopus, empanada, Albariño and the almond tarta de Santiago.
The western end of the journey — the end of the Camino and one of Europe's great cathedrals.
